Tools of the trade...
I get asked from time to time about my equipment. Here, categorized for your reading
pleasure, is a run-down on what I use to do what I do. You'll catch some of it in
the sidebar photos on the right side of the page from time to time.
Studio
My studio equipment is for DJ'ing, production, composition and voice-over work. My set-up includes:
- Allen & Heath Xone:4D mixer/controller
- Behringer XYNEX 1202FX mixer (for additional input flexibility into the Xone)
- Behringer Truth B2031A studio
monitors, and a matching B2092A studio sub
- Pioneer CDJ-400 CD turntables
- Stanton T.90 turntable (for those occasional vinyl needs)
- I apparently collect headphones; Sony and Sennheiser monitor types, and Pioneer
and Denon DJ models
- Shure SM58 mics
- Heil PL-2T mic boom (the best thing since sliced bread for studio voice work)
- Native Instruments Traktor Pro (for DJ'ing)
- Ableton Live 8 Suite (for production and composition)
- Various M-Audio MIDI controllers (Keystations, Axioms, Trigger Finger, etc.)
- E-mu audio interfaces (1820, 1616)
- Various VSTi soft-synths, including Rapture, Dimension, and Sylenth
Mobile
For mobile gigs (parties, special events, etc.) I bring along some of the my studio
gear, but in addition, I have plenty of sound support gear, including Peavey speakers,
as well as dance lighting and related gear from American DJ. I have sufficient equipment
for smaller venues that are typical of parties, weddings, and so forth; for larger
venues, I can help coordinate rentals where needed.
